Wine is the perfect catalyst. For those that grow it and make it, wine connects us perpetually to the land—spiritually, emotionally, and physically. When served it brings people together, fosters relationships, and elicits a spirit of sharing and giving.
In Oakville, we are in the final phases of building an ambitious estate in the heart of the Napa Valley. Even at first glance, the project is transformative. On the eighty-six-acre parcel, we are planting 68 acres of organic and biodynamic vineyards, lush flower gardens, a productive vegetable farm, orchards, and generous plantings of native flora that will bring the energy of the Napa River—the lifeblood of the Valley—rolling through the property. This can already be seen and felt, with countless butterflies, hummingbirds, and honeybees navigating the spaces. The winery, inspired by the cycles of nature and of winegrowing, will become the center of Favia’s production and hospitality, perched over the vineyard landscape and connecting to the mountain ridges and beyond.
At its core, though, Favia’s home in Oakville is even more compelling than the structures that will spring forth. Its power lies in the people who will inhabit these spaces and the community they will create. This estate will be the embodiment of our ethos and philosophy that has been forming for more than two decades—"In collaboration with nature, with reverence for craft, in honor of place.” Friends and family who share these values will come to build on what we’ve started, add to the story, and write a new shared chapter in the Valley. Our hope is that wine is the centerpiece, but only one of the elements that connects people to each other and to this beloved land.
To bring the next phase of Favia to life in physical form, we have engaged celebrated Mexican architect Frida Escobedo. Her designs, from the Serpentine Pavilion in London’s Kensington Gardens to the new Modern & Contemporary Wing for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, have caught the world’s attention for their ability to awaken human connection to both indoor and outdoor spaces. Frida’s shared creative vision for the winery will reflect our affinity for nature and all its wonder. Together with her studio team, she has envisioned breathtaking spaces that mirror our philosophy that land is the ultimate protagonist.
